Our Services & Programs

All services managed by Tenterfield Social Development Committee (TSDC) assist families and young people during times of social, financial and emotional hardship. Proactive activities are also performed in an attempt to reduce crisis numbers. Centre based services and home visiting services are provided by support programs to ensure everybody has access to our services.

Tenterfield Family and Youth Support Service

Our Family and Youth Support Service, provides support to families with dependent children and adolescents. We can assist with:

  • Case Planning
  • Living Skills
  • Parenting Education
  • Budgeting
  • Advocacy
  • Housing
  • Relationships
  • Referrals to specialist services
  • General information and advice
  • Centre based and home visiting services provided
  • Working Development Order (WDO) - Clearing fines with approved activities instead of money
Aboriginal Family Links Program

Our Aboriginal Family Links Program provides support to Aboriginal families with children aged 0 to 5 years, and pregnant Aboriginal women and their partners in the Tenterfield area:

  • Referrals to specialist services
  • General information and advice
  • Centre based and home visiting services provided

Tenterfield Supported Playgroup

  • Facilitated one day per week during the school term
  • An opportunity for parents and carers to share experiences of parenting and learn new parenting skills
  • Supported by workers who coordinate the activities
  • Structured and positive environment for children to socialise play and learn
  • Age appropriate learning experiences and activities
  • Provides educational sessions and activities for the parents and children
  • Assist children and families with transition to school
Drake Supported Playgroup

Support to families with children aged 0-5 years of age who reside in the Drake area:

  • Provides educational sessions and activities for the parents and children
  • Facilitated one day per week during the school term
  • An opportunity for parents and carers to share experiences of parenting and learn new parenting skills
  • Provides educational sessions and activities for the parents and children
  • Supported by workers who coordinate the activities
  • Structured and positive environment for children to socialise play and learn

Tenterfield Community Hub

The Tenterfield Community Hub is an information and referral point for all community members in the Tenterfield Local Government area (LGA). It is also a community space available for use by volunteer organisations, the presentation of educational workshops and an office spaces for service providers to provide outreach services. Our Community Hub provides:

  • A space where people can access a range of information, advice and referral to specialist services
  • Community Engagement via group activities, workshops and community events
  • Room hire available to visiting outreach service providers and local service providers
  • Access to telephone, computer and internet
  • Printing and photocopying service available (charges apply)
  • Ensures awareness campaigns reach the community
  • Facilitates a quarterly interagency meeting
